Police arrest 60-year-old man for alleged attempted abduction at Hobart’s Queens Domain

A man has been charged with “attempted forcible abduction” after an incident involving a young person at Hobart’s Queens Domain last night.

The 60-year-old was arrested after police received reports of a man trying to force the youth into a vehicle around 8pm on Wednesday.

Detective Sergeant Sam Storer said officers from the Bridgewater Criminal Investigation Branch and members from across the Southern Division “quickly responded” to the incident.

“The youth was not physically injured and provided a detailed version of events including the man’s number plate,” he said.

“Police located and arrested the man a short time later.”

The man was charged and held in custody to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

Police are calling for any witnesses to the incident to contact them, as well as anyone who was in the area at the time with dashcam footage.
