Tasmania Police are urging the public to come forward with any footage of a fatal stabbing incident at Hobart’s Salamanca precinct that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.
Detectives investigating the alleged murder of Noah Keogh are seeking phone videos, CCTV and dashcam vision from the Morrison Street car park area around 11:45pm on Saturday.
The incident left Keogh dead and a 23-year-old man in Royal Hobart Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, who has since been released.
A 17-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder, wounding and assault over the alleged attack.
He appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he became visibly emotional as supporters called out “love ya” from the public gallery.
Magistrate Robert Webster ruled the court would remain open to media despite the youth’s identity being protected, citing the seriousness of the murder charge.
The teenager has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance via video link on November 19.
A 20-year-old man has also been charged with assault in relation to the incident and will appear in court at a later date.
Tributes have poured in for Keogh, with his sister Zoey describing him on social media as “the most genuine, kind-hearted, selfless, charismatic, hard-working boy”.
“I am so deeply lost for words and I don’t want to believe this is true,” she wrote. “Life will never be the same without you. It already feels a whole lot lonelier without you.”
Friends remembered Keogh as “one in a million”, known for his warmth and energy.
Police believe the stabbing occurred during a targeted altercation between two groups.
