A 24-year-old Penguin man has been charged with multiple offences after a string of alleged dangerous driving incidents across North West Tasmania on Tuesday.
Police said they received reports around 1:10pm that a white vehicle had left the scene of a crash on the Bass Highway at Camdale.
In a separate incident shortly after, officers pulled over a white Honda Accord on Turrung Street in Cooee for driving offences.
The driver returned a positive oral fluid test and was taken to Burnie Police Station for further testing.
At the station, police established that the Honda Accord matched the description of the vehicle involved in the earlier hit and run crash.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle had allegedly been involved in a dangerous driving incident around 1:02pm on the Bass Highway between Wynyard and Camdale, before the crash.
The man was charged with dangerous driving, disqualified driving, contravening conditions of a notice, abusing police and destroying and injuring property.
He was held in custody and is expected to appear in court today.
Police are asking anyone who saw the white Honda Accord, registration J20MD, driving dangerously between Wynyard and Camdale to come forward.
They are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a white Audi with a Queensland registration similar to 666NR8 who may have witnessed the alleged dangerous driving.
