Firefighters have rushed to the Eastlands Shopping Centre on Hobart’s Eastern Shore this evening, after a flare reportedly landed on the centre’s rooftop car park.
“Somebody fired a flare onto Eastlands, the fire is [now] out and crews are returning,” a Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson told Pulse.

The source of the flare is not yet known, with authorities believing it could have either been set off from the nearby waters of Kangaroo Bay or from the car park itself.
Police say they have officers conducting a search of the Kangaroo Bay area as a precaution.
