Police are searching for a masked man who allegedly robbed a Launceston service station at gunpoint overnight, making off with cash and cigarettes.
The man walked into the Shell Reddy Express on Hoblers Bridge Road at Newstead around 11:25pm on Friday.
Police say he was dressed in dark clothing, wore a face covering and was armed with what appeared to be a handgun.
He allegedly threatened the only staff member on duty late last night before being handed cash and a quantity of cigarettes.
The man then fled on foot, heading east. No one was injured.

A Tasmania Police spokesperson said officers wanted to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.
“Police are also interested in any suspicious observations made in the Newstead area around the time of the robbery,” the spokesperson said.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with CCTV, home security or dashcam footage to come forward.
