Updated, Wednesday 2:34pm: Tasmania Police say the person of interest “has now been located at Epping Forest”.
“The man was safely taken into custody a short time ago,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.
“Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Police would like to thank the public for their understanding.”
Police have not provided any information as to the details of the incident.
Earlier: Police are searching for a man in the Epping Forest area of Tasmania’s Northern Midlands.
Tasmania Police said motorists should expect an increased police presence in the area and on local roads while the incident was being managed.
In a statement, police said they were looking for a “person of interest”.
“At this stage, police do not believe there is a risk to the wider public,” a spokesperson said.
“However anyone who witnesses a man acting suspiciously in the area of Epping Forest is asked to contact police on 131 444 and quote ESCAD job 148.”
