Police have seized more than 70 grams of methylamphetamine, $15,650 in cash and a stolen shotgun during a series of raids in Launceston’s northern suburbs.
Officers from the Northern Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit searched properties in Mayfield and Invermay on Tuesday.
They were supported by specialist police resources as part of what police described as an “ongoing investigation”.
At one Mayfield home, officers allegedly found about 48 grams of methylamphetamine, along with other illicit drugs.
A second search at another Mayfield property uncovered four motorcycles and two mountain bikes, all suspected of being stolen.
A 36-year-old Mayfield man was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, property offences and other matters.
At an Invermay address, police seized about 26 grams of methylamphetamine, 20 grams of MDMA, $15,650 in cash and other illicit drugs.
A search of a nearby property also uncovered a shotgun that had been stolen from a home in 2021.
A 38-year-old Invermay man was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and firearms offences.
Both men were held in custody to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
