A torch that doubles as an electronic stun device was among weapons seized by police during coordinated raids across the state this morning.
Tasmania Police and Australian Border Force officers simultaneously searched properties in Hobart’s Lenah Valley and Launceston’s Mowbray as part of an ongoing joint operation.
At the Lenah Valley property, officers seized four gel blaster pistols, a metal replica pistol, a foldable gel blaster submachine gun and alleged steroids.
The Mowbray search uncovered three gel blaster pistols hidden in a shed, the disguised stun device, ammunition and various chemicals.
Police also discovered tactical equipment including body armour, ballistic helmets, balaclavas and police-style patches and insignia.
A 35-year-old Hobart man has been issued with a summons to appear in court over the seizures.
