A 34-year-old Launceston man has been charged after police allegedly seized about a kilogram of cocaine during a traffic stop on the Bass Highway near Deloraine.
Officers allegedly noticed a vehicle being driven erratically and pulled it over about 8:45am on Wednesday.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said officers “located a kilogram of cocaine concealed inside a bag” during a search of the car.
The man was taken into custody and later charged with serious drug and firearm offences.
Investigators then executed a search warrant at a residential property, where they allegedly located evidence relating to drug offences, a quantity of ammunition and a stolen firearm.
Police will allege the firearm is linked to an aggravated burglary reported in Beaconsfield earlier this year.
The man was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today. Investigations are ongoing.
