Police have discovered a “significant quantity” of what are thought to be stolen power tools and trade equipment following a raid on a shed in Launceston.
The planned search at Newstead was carried out on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into recent motor vehicle burglaries in the Launceston area.
The seized property is estimated to be worth more than $40,000.
Police said investigations are continuing and reminded owners to always ensure their vehicles and valuables are secure.
“Anyone who has had tools or equipment stolen recently should report it to police,” he said.
“To deter thieves and help police return property, owners should mark power tools with identifying features.”
“Anyone with information in relation to the burglaries, or who has been offered cheap tools, is also urged to contact Launceston CIB on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers.”
