Police have sealed off a road in Hobart’s northern suburbs and launched a large-scale manhunt after receiving reports of a gun being shot at a vehicle.
The alleged incident in Brighton came after a crash between a vehicle and a motorbike, police believe.
They say reports indicate a white Nissan Patrol crashed into a blue motorbike that was riding with a group on the corner of Ford and Brighton roads on Tuesday afternoon.
A firearm was then reportedly “discharged at the Nissan Patrol during the disturbance” before the riders fled the scene.
A significant police presence is currently deployed in the area, actively searching for the motorbike riders, who were last seen heading north on Brighton Road, as well as the driver of the patrol and other involved vehicles.
The Brighton Road end of Ford Road remains closed, with police urging witnesses to come forward and contact them on 131444.
