Tasmania Police are continuing to search for a man last seen in the Derwent Valley, almost 24 hours after an allegedly stolen car was found abandoned.
A police spokesperson said officers were “seeking the whereabouts of Joel Cowen” following a search in the Uxbridge area yesterday.
“Joel was last seen in the Derwent Valley area and possibly trying to hitch hike on Plenty Valley Road between Huonville and the Derwent Valley,” the spokesperson told Pulse.
“If anyone sees Joel, or a man trying to hitch hike in this area, they are asked not to approach and contact police on 131 444.”
The search began in the Uxbridge area yesterday after officers tracked the car from Lonnavale towards Mount Lloyd around 11:55am.
The car was later found abandoned at Uxbridge. Police believe the driver then fled on foot.
A police helicopter was used as part of the search.
