The iconic McDonald’s storefront in Hobart’s Cat and Fiddle Arcade has permanently closed its doors this week.
In a statement to Pulse Hobart, McDonald’s Australia confirmed the closure, citing the approaching end of lease as the primary reason for the shutdown.
The fast-food giant expressed its gratitude to the loyal customers who frequented the Hobart CBD store.
McDonald’s Australia assured customers the nearby North Hobart store, owned by a separate franchisee, will remain open.

“We look forward to continuing to serve our customers in the Hobart CBD at nearby restaurants, including McDonald’s North Hobart, which is less than a kilometer away.”
The Cat & Fiddle store has been popular among Hobart school students, who typically flood the store around 3 PM.
