One of Tasmania’s most distinctive tourism attractions has changed hands, with the Richmond Maze property sold to an international buyer following significant market interest.
The property at 13 Bridge Street in Richmond’s historic town centre was sold through Ray White Commercial Tasmania, with the sale price remaining confidential.
The unique freehold tourism asset features a purpose-built restaurant and café, landscaped gardens and two distinctive mazes that have become a landmark attraction for visitors to the region.
Trevor Fox, Partner at RWC Tasmania, said the property’s distinctive offering drove strong local and international buyer interest.

“This is a truly unique freehold property, there’s simply nothing else like it in Tasmania, and very few comparables across the country,” Fox said.
“The location, the quality of the build, and the scale of the offering made it a compelling opportunity for buyers seeking a strategic tourism investment.”

Prior to the sale, the owners had enhanced the property through capital investments, including construction of modern hospitality facilities and expanding the maze experience to create an integrated leisure destination.
“We saw strong interest from a wide range of buyer profiles, particularly from investors and operators who recognised the long-term growth in Tasmania’s tourism sector,” RWC’s Tom Balcombe said.
“The level of enquiry was extremely healthy, and in the end, the right buyer was one with a strong vision for the asset’s future.”
