Tasmania’s population is expected to grow by 79,000 people from 568,000 to 647,000 in the next decade, according to the 2022 Population Statement.
Greater Hobart will experience the largest population increase, with a predicted influx of 47,000 people bringing the city’s population from 251,000 to 298,000.

The rest of Tasmania is expected to welcome 31,000 additional people.
