Our Tassie potato cakes and chips are at risk! π¬π’
Recent floods across Tasmania have resulted in supplies of local potatoes sinking to a low, with weather conditions making it ‘too wet’ to get tractors onto paddocks.
Dunalley-based Daly Potatoes told the ABC they “cannot harvest anything at the moment” and can’t get supply to supermarkets – losing more than 2,000 tonnes of potatoes and seed to the wet weather this year alone.
A number of Tasmanian takeaway stores are also reportedly unable to get their hands on their usual potato supplies, forcing them to resort to other varieties.
