A busy street through Launceston’s north has been closed due to a potential gas leak at a business on the road.
Tasmania Police have shut Invermay Road between Forster Street and Bryan Street while the Tasmania Fire Service investigates the incident.

Authorities have asked people to avoid the area until the scene is deemed safe.
According to TasAlert, the “hazardous material incident” is at 209 Invermay Road, near the RSPCA Animal Shelter.
“Exposure to this material may present a danger,” the warning reads.
“There is no risk of exposure to the general public at this time.”
“If you are in the immediate area, stay indoors, close all doors, windows and vents and turn air conditioners to recirculate or off.”
