Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff has jokingly shared a screenshot of his daughters slamming him in the family group chat, after he confirmed he won’t support a public holiday should the Matildas secure a victory in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

One of Premier Rockliff’s 3 daughters sent a screenshot of the earlier Pulse story covering the announcement, saying “DAD WTF”.

Another daughter, Ruby, chimed in – saying “NO DAD WE NEED A PUBLIC HOLIDAY”.

Rockliff saw the fun in the conversation, posting the text exchange on his public Facebook page, joking that he’s unpopular in his own family.

Speaking to Leon Compton on ABC Radio Hobart this morning, Bailey deemed the concept “the most stupid idea going,” talking about his concerns of the logistical issues it would create, particularly the short notice that would be given and the resulting impact on businesses – including the requirement to pay penalty rates.
