Primrose Sands residents are being urged to check their bushfire plans as firefighters battle a blaze in the area this afternoon.
Tasmania Fire Services crews are currently working to extinguish the blaze near Tecoma Road, which they say is travelling towards Correa Street.
The TFS say while there is “no immediate threat” at this stage, all residents need to stay informed.
“Well prepared homes are expected to be defendable in these conditions. Monitor conditions, and if they get more dangerous, and you are not well prepared, plan to go to a safer place,” the TFS say.

Earlier this week, the Bureau of Meteorology warned about an increased fire danger due to the combination of strong winds and warm temperatures, with elevated fire dangers expected in some areas on Friday and Saturday – earlier than usual for this time of year.
The Director of Community Fire Safety at the Tasmania Fire Service, Chris Collins, warned in August that the state will see a ‘potentially challenging’ fire season this year.
“I can almost guarantee were going to see a more active bushfire season this year than what we’ve experienced for the last three, and that has implications if people in those vulnerable, bushfire-prone areas are not prepared,” Collins said.
