EARLIER: A manhunt is underway after a prisoner escaped custody in Hobart tonight.
Nicholas Aaron Scott escaped from custody while receiving treatment at the Royal Hobart Hospital a short time ago around 10:50 PM.
Police say Scott is about 190-195 cm tall, has ginger hair, a slim build, and was last seen wearing grey prison track pants and a t-shirt with no shoes.
Significant resources are currently searching for Scott, who Police say has a distinctive V11V11 tattoo over his left eye and normally resides in the south of the state.

It is understood Scott is serving a sentence of imprisonment after being convicted for burglaries, stealing, aggravated burglary, unlawfully injuring property and carjacking.
The Department of Justice website shows Scott was involved in a series of car thefts in the Sandy Bay and UTAS campus areas in 2019.
He also broke into a home while the owners were away, stole items and caused damage to the property.
Additionally, Scott terrorised a mother and her young son by entering their property where he approached the mother in the backyard, demanded her car keys, punched her in the face and stole her vehicle.
Scott has approximately 20 convictions for motor vehicle theft and other crimes such as dishonesty, arson, and aggravated burglary.
Anyone who sights Scott is advised not to interact with him and is asked to call police immediately on 131444.
