A man has been left with serious head injuries after he was allegedly struck over the head with an “edged weapon” overnight.
Police say the man in his 40s was walking on Booth Street through the Launceston suburb of Ravenswood shortly after 5:30pm on Monday night when the incident occurred.

The injured man was initially taken to the Launceston General Hospital but was later transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition.
A 33-year-old man from Ravenswood has been charged with wounding in connection with the incident and is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court this afternoon.
