A man arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Tasmania’s north earlier this month has been charged with additional offences, including aggravated armed robbery.
The 36-year-old Ravenswood man was initially charged with breaching a firearms prohibition order, evading police and unlicensed driving following the Mole Creek incident on May 13th.
“His charges have been upgraded to aggravated armed robbery as well as recklessly discharge a firearm, aggravated assault and other firearms offences,” police said.
His upgraded charges come alongside those of a 26-year-old Launceston woman who was initially charged with aggravated armed robbery immediately after the incident.
The pair are accused of threatening the occupants of a Mole Creek home with a firearm in a targeted incident.
A firearm was reportedly discharged into the roof of the residence during the ordeal and several items stolen before the pair fled in a vehicle.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter and drones were used to locate the vehicle in Bishopsbourne, where firearms, cash and drugs were allegedly found.
The woman was arrested after allegedly threatening residents in a home, while the man was found in a nearby hedged area.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
