Work is underway to restore and rebuild Hobart’s Bowen Road Primary School after the library and classrooms were destroyed by a deliberately lit fire in November last year.
The fire was determined to be deliberately lit by an 14-year-old from Moonah after an investigation by the Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police.
Local builders have been contracted to repair the library which was damaged in the blaze, with the works to include new roofing and window installation.
The repairs are expected to be completed by the end of Term 1.

In addition to damaging the library, the fire also destroyed four classrooms, which have since been demolished.

Local architects have been engaged to design the replacement facilities and a tender process to find a building contractor is scheduled to take place later in the year.
