Some North-East Tasmanian roads will soon have new speed limits in an effort to improve safety and reduce the risk of accidents, according to RoadsTas.
The changes will affect Elephant Pass Road and Gray Road and will come into effect once the new speed limit signs have been installed.
On Elephant Pass Road, RoadsTas will reduce the speed limit from 100 km/h to 80 km/h on the section from the waste transfer station to Gray.
The current 100 km/h limit on Elephant Pass Road, from Gray to the Tasman Highway, will also be reduced to 60 km/h for an 11-kilometre section.

On Gray Road, the existing limit of 70 km/h will be reduced to 60 km/h for an 800-metre section from the waste transfer station to the outskirts of St Marys.
To ensure that drivers are aware of the changes, ‘new speed limit ahead’ signs will be placed on these roads.
Road users are advised to be aware of the changes in speed limits and to drive with caution while travelling on these roads.
