He has previously served as finance minister and minister for mental health and wellbeing, among other roles.

Two of his new portfolios, arts and community and multicultural affairs, have now changed hands twice in three weeks, passing from Madeleine Ogilvie to Howlett in late May and now to Jaensch.

Jo Palmer was also sworn in on Wednesday, taking on the women and prevention of family and sexual violence portfolio.

The Rosevears MLC has been in parliament since 2020 and holds the education and disability services portfolios.

Howlett resigned on Tuesday, citing a “relentless personal and political attack” on herself.

She had faced scrutiny over more than $400,000 in taxpayer-funded legal fees and claims she misled parliament over a message sent during the 2024 election campaign.

Ogilvie resigned last month over allegations she misled parliament about a Supreme Court case she had brought, after earlier telling a committee she was not involved in any court action.
