The RSPCA and Tasmania Police are investigating a report of alleged dog poisoning in Evandale as pet owners in the northern town grow increasingly fearful someone is deliberately targeting their animals.
Pulse understands two dogs have died in the town after eating poisoned meat thrown into backyards.
At least five attempted poisonings have been detailed in recent weeks through social media reports.
RSPCA Tasmania CEO Andrea Dawkins said the organisation had received a complaint and passed it on for investigation.

“The RSPCA has received a single report of an alleged poisoning from the Evandale area and have lodged that complaint for investigation,” she said.
Dawkins urged anyone with information to come forward.

“For anyone in the area with information about the possible perpetrator please contact us on 1300 139 947 or Tas Police on 131 444,” she said.
She warned dog owners to stay vigilant.
“We ask that every dog owner takes steps to protect their dogs in case there is a cluster of poisonings occurring with the perpetrator becoming emboldened,” she said.
Tasmania Police confirmed they are investigating and have asked the public for help.

“Police are investigating the matter and anyone with information is urged to come forward,” a police spokesperson said.
Information can be provided to police on 131 444 or to Crime Stoppers at crimestopperstas.com.au.
