A public toilet block in Devonport has been left in a ‘disgusting state’ by vandals, with images of the mess going viral on social media.

The female toilets at the Formby Road carpark were targeted on Monday afternoon, with toilet paper ripped from dispensers and stuffed into sinks, causing water to overflow onto the floor.

Coffee stains were also found on mirrors and the ceiling, with a local resident who came across the mess describing it as “pretty grim”.

“The toilets were nearly flooded,” she said.

“What satisfaction do they get out of trashing facilities? They do need to be reported,” one person wrote.

“This is so sad to see because elderly use a bathroom and could fall over,” said another.

The Devonport City Council will carry out repairs to clean and fix the damage.
