A house in Tasmania’s rural north has been completely destroyed after a deliberately lit fire tore through the property.

Police say emergency services were called to the home on Nettlefolds Road at Holwell, south of Beauty Point, around 5am on Saturday morning.

Firefighters found the house “fully engulfed” upon arrival, with investigators later determining the blaze was deliberately lit.

It is not known if anyone was home at the time of the incident.

The blaze was just one of four incidents firefighters from Glengarry and neighbouring stations were called to attend in a 48 hour period.

Other incidents involved a logging truck rollover that resulted in the partial-destruction of an old church, a substantial vegetation fire and a medical emergency.

Anyone with information on the deliberate fire is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
