Safe stuffed with $22,000 in cash allegedly stolen in Hobart burglary

A Rokeby man has been charged over the theft of a safe containing $22,000 in cash from a Hobart business.

The 53-year-old was arrested after an investigation by South East Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detectives into a break-in at the business on Wednesday, April 8.

He has been charged with burglary, stealing and unlawful possession of property.

The man has been bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on August 24.

“Investigations are continuing and police are urging members of the public to call police on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au if they have further information,” a spokesperson said.
