A new villa on Tasmania’s east coast is set to command some of the highest accommodation rates in the country, with guests to pay between $25,000 and $35,000 per night to stay there.

Saffire Freycinet is behind the project, describing the upcoming Jewel Private Villa as one of Australia’s most exclusive stays.

The three-bedroom residence, spanning 800 square metres, is currently under construction on the resort’s 16-hectare property near Muir’s Beach.

The villa is due for completion in late September and is expected to welcome its first guests from December 1, targeting the top end of the luxury travel market.

Saffire general manager Dylan Counsel said the villa would set a new benchmark for the state’s luxury tourism market and several bookings had already been locked in, all at the highest rate of $35,000 a night.

Most early bookings have come from overseas, with key markets including the US, UK, Switzerland, France and parts of Asia.

“It’s going to be something really, really special,” Counsel told Pulse.

“Something that is absolute market-leading for Tasmania, but also stands up on a national level.”

“I’ve had an extensive career overseas, internationally and, I can really say that the villa absolutely stands up on a global stage as well.”

The villa features three 90-square-metre master bedrooms with ensuites, all with floor-to-ceiling four-metre glass panels facing the Hazard Ranges.

Guests will have access to a private chef, curated wine tastings and guided tours

An 18-metre heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and spa round out the offering.

Guests will also have access to a dedicated host team, private chef experiences, curated wine tastings and guided tours.

He said the flow-on effects for Tasmania’s broader economy were significant.

“Their stay often extends to places like Cradle Mountain or Hobart or the north-west,” he said.

The villa is being built by Tasmanian firm AJR Construct based in the state’s north-west.

Saffire first opened in 2010 and has built a reputation as one of Tasmania’s premier luxury destinations, with standard rooms costing between $3,200 and $6,500 a night.

Counsel said guests of the Jewel Private Villa will be deeply rooted in the Tasmanian elements.

“Guests will have a distinct sense of place and something that they can’t get anywhere else,” he said.
