Tasmanian MP Michael Ferguson has walked away from a serious crash after his car hit a cow on the Midland Highway overnight.
Ferguson was driving north after leaving Parliament when the collision occurred.
He said his car struck “a black cow, in the middle of my lane”.
“The car is wrecked, but thankfully I am safe,” he said.

Ferguson thanked Tasmania Police for their response, describing them as “wonderful people”.
He also gave a shout-out to Patrick from Beecheys towing and staff at the Launceston General Hospital.

“I’m very grateful for the many messages of support, and to Tasmania Police for their calm and professional response,” he said.
Ferguson, who’s known for his Christian faith, shared a passage from Psalm 16 in his statement.
“I know the lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me,” he said.
