Sandy Bay kids are now better off when crossing the road, with a new crossing now installed outside Princes Street Primary School.

A permanent addition to Princes Street, the crossing will make it ‘safer and easier’ for children to walk and cycle to school.

“Children are some of our most vulnerable road users and this new school crossing will help reduce the risk of conflict between children and motor vehicles,” said Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Michael Ferguson.

“The new crossing is situated away from the busy roundabout of Proctors Road, King Street and Princes Street, and provides better sight lines for motorists and children crossing the road.”

The crossing was funded by the Tasmanian Government’s Vulnerable Road User Program and the Australian Government’s $3 billion Road Safety Program.
