Tasmania Police are warning locals about a scratch card scam that has recently resurfaced in the state.
Authorities say victims are receiving fake “winning” scratch cards worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, which prompt them to contact someone from overseas.

The fraudsters then request large sums of money be transferred to them, claiming the funds are needed to set up accounts for the winnings.
“The scammers impersonate real people and businesses to appear legitimate when researched online,” police said.
“Remember, don’t share personal info or send money and always report suspicious activity.”
“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
