The search for a missing 63-year-old Hobart man with urgent medical needs has entered its third day, with police and his family growing increasingly desperate for a breakthrough.
It has been more than 48 hours since the man, recognisable by his distinctive shuffle and forward-leaning posture, was last seen near his Rokeby home around 4pm on Thursday.
“Every piece of information provided by members of the community has been assessed and will be followed up as a matter of priority,” Inspector Andrew Keane said.
The large-scale search has continued non-stop throughout Saturday, with search and rescue teams scouring nearby bushland while uniformed officers checked streets and urban areas between Bellerive and Lauderdale.
Marine police have also searched waters between Rokeby and Bellerive, using an underwater drone as part of their efforts.
The search comes as temperatures are expected to drop to around three degrees in the city tonight, with morning frost likely in parts of the east.
The missing man is still believed to be wearing only black trackpants and a black top and has now spent two nights away from home.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen him or has any information about his whereabouts to contact them immediately.
