A serial drug driver has been sentenced to jail for repeatedly driving while under the influence.
Codan James Viney pleaded guilty to five counts of driving while disqualified and six counts of driving while under the influence of an illicit drug.
The Launceston Magistrates Court heard on Monday how Viney committed the offences between March and October 2021.
Multiple oral fluid tests conducted by Police found Viney positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and THC.
Magistrate Simon Brown described Viney’s record as “poor” and highlighted his 17th offence of driving while disqualified.
Despite previous punishments, Viney continued to use drugs and drive illegally.
Viney was convicted of all charges and sentenced to six months imprisonment, with two months suspended for the next 12 months.
He was also disqualified from driving for two years after his release.
