One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a truck and a car in Tasmania’s north-west.
Emergency services were called to the crash on the Bass Highway at Edgcumbe Beach around 12.30pm on Thursday.
The crash, involving a white Volvo truck and a white Holden Captiva, closed the Bass Highway between Hellyer and Crayfish Creek.
Motorists were earlier asked to divert via Loosemores Road.
“At this stage it is anticipated the road will remain closed for several hours,” police said at 3pm.
Police said the woman driving the Captiva was taken by ambulance to the North West Regional Hospital in a serious condition.
Two passengers in the Captiva were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The truck driver was not physically injured, police said.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
