A 52-year-old George Town woman has died following a two-vehicle crash at Hillwood on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Batman Highway near the intersection of Craigburn Road at around 2:55pm.
A Subaru station wagon and a Hyundai hatchback collided on the highway.
The woman, who was driving the Hyundai, was declared dead at the scene.
The 42-year-old male driver of the Subaru was taken by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital and is in a stable condition.
Early investigations suggest the Subaru veered into the path of the oncoming Hyundai.
Batman Highway was closed for several hours while police examined the scene.
