UPDATE – 10:30 PM: An 86-year-old woman has tragically lost her life in a single-vehicle accident on Bruny Island today.
Police say the woman was driving a white Holden Barina hatch and possibly had a medical episode while heading southbound on Bruny Island Main Road, South Bruny shortly before 1 PM.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, and authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
EARLIER – Serious injuries after Bruny Island crash: A serious single vehicle crash on Adventure Bay Road at South Bruny has prompted a response from Tasmania police and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter this afternoon.
One person is reportedly in a serious condition following the incident, with further details around the cause of the crash still to be confirmed.
Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area until investigations are complete and the scene is cleared.
Adventure Bay Road is expected to remain closed for some time.
