Tasmania is set to turn teal this February for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

The SHE Gynaecological Cancer Group is calling on businesses across the state to light up their storefronts in support of the cause.

SHE Chair Scott Harris said the ‘Turn Tassie Teal’ campaign aims to raise awareness, start conversations and encourage people to donate towards the fight against ovarian cancer.

“We hope that by shining a light across Tasmania we can … ultimately save lives,” Harris said.

“If you’d like to get involved, we encourage you to light up your business or workplace teal for February.”

The Tasmanian Hospitality Association is on board and encouraging its members to add a splash of teal to their businesses.

The co-owner of Salamanca restaurant Farzi, Varun Khetarpal, says he is proud to take part.

“This is such an important cause to get behind and we’re really pleased to not only light up the venue teal but to help raise some much-needed funds,” Khetarpal said.

The JackJumpers will also host their fourth annual Teal NBL game on February 8th, inspired by the late Jo Harris and her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, which quickly sold out.

Teal JackJumpers jerseys are on sale now, with proceeds going towards SHE’s new Cancer Wellness Centre in Hobart.
