A Hobart driver has left people baffled after being spotted driving the wrong way on not one, but two busy one-way city streets.
Dashcam footage of the ‘dangerous incident’ uploaded to social media shows the driver, behind the wheel of a red RAV4, initially make an incorrect right turn from Davey Street onto Barrack Street – directly into oncoming 6pm traffic.
To add to the confusion, they came to a stop at the Macquarie Street intersection indicating to make a right turn in an apparent attempt to correct their mistake.
However, after numerous cars passed by, the bewildered driver eventually decided to turn left onto the one-way Macquarie Street.

The exact distance they traveled along Macquarie Street in the wrong direction remains unclear.
Other drivers have slammed the ‘shocking episode’, with many left questioning how the motorist obtained a driver’s license given the ‘clear lack of understanding’ of basic road rules.
Under Tasmanian law, a driver “must not drive on a length of road to which a one-way sign applies except in the direction indicated by the arrow on the sign”, with a fine of up to $1,950 able to be issued.
