Police have cracked down on dodgy venue compliance around Hobart’s waterfront, joining forces with the Liquor and Gaming Branch on Friday night for a ‘collaborative operation’.
Police Inspector John Toohey said they wanted to ensure that licensed venues and individuals comply with responsible service and consumption of alcohol regulations.
He said they conducted 26 inspections, where six premises were issued infringement notices by police.
“These infringements were for offences including breaching licence conditions, failing to display licences or restricted signage, and displaying expired licences,” Toohey explained.
“The joint operation also featured an educational component, where officials engaged with proprietors, staff, and patrons to raise awareness about responsible alcohol service and consumption practices”.
The Inspector said he was pleased most establishments were found to be in compliance with regulations, reflecting “a positive trend in responsible alcohol service”.
Police say further operations are planned in the lead up to the festive season.
