The Sorell Council has made two beaches, Park and Carlton, accessible for all by installing permanent ramps for wheelchair and mobility device users.

In what is believed to be a first for the state, the new ramps are part of the council’s ongoing development of the Dodges Ferry Carlton Loop – a popular recreational area.

The key feature of the ramps is that they provide easy access to the beach for people who require assistance with mobility, allowing individuals with disabilities to enjoy the beautiful beaches and other recreational areas that the Loop has to offer.

The ramps have been praised by a local resident and wheelchair user, and it is hoped that other councils will follow Sorell’s example to improve accessibility for all.
