Parts of South Arm Road will get slower in the coming weeks after a speed limit reduction was approved by Tasmania’s Commissioner for Transport.
A 1.9km section of South Arm Road at Lauderdale, from just north of the Acton Road junction to the service station near Dona Road, will drop from 70km/h to 60km/h this month.
The Commissioner made the decision to lower the speed limit based on the “characteristics of the road” and the “significant amount of traffic moving in and out of businesses on the eastern side of the road” after receiving a request from the local community.
The new speed limit will come into effect once new speed limit signs have been installed.
