Police are on the hunt for a schoolyard squatter who was reportedly found living in an abandoned building at a Tasmanian primary school.
The individual, believed to be homeless, had turned an empty Geeveston Primary School building into their hideout, which local parents discovered – alongside equipment allegedly used to administer drugs.
In a statement, Geeveston Primary School’s principal Denise Goodwin said the building in question is part of the old high school farm and is no longer used.
“The land is leased to a local farmer for his cows to graze,” Goodwin wrote.
“We will be organising with the department for the buildings to be demolished as they are no longer used by the school.”
Tasmania Police are investigating the incident and are working to locate the ‘person of interest’.
“Police are following a specific line of inquiry to locate the person, and any information from the public about their whereabouts should be provided to Huonville or Geeveston police on 131 444,” Police said.
