In just 25 days, a specialist Police taskforce with the goal of removing repeat offenders from Tasmania’s streets has charged 73 people with 342 offences.
Taskforce Saturate picked up the criminals committing crimes including assault, robbery, burglary, breach of bail, dangerous driving, evade police, disqualified driving and disorderly behaviour offences as well as firearm, drug and family violence offences.
Acting Commander John Toohey said the “dedicated efforts” have returned “impressive results”.
“Tasmania Police will continue to prioritise the safety and security of our community, targeting these repeat offenders, and when lawful, put them before the court,” Toohey said.
Anyone who witnesses illegal or anti-social behaviour should report it to police on 131 444, or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.
