Hobart’s Tasman Bridge is set to be lit in blue and yellow, the colours of the Ukrainian flag, tonight to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff has expressed his solidarity with the Ukrainian people, saying that “Ukraine will always have a friend in Tasmania.”
“Ukraine will always have a friend in Tasmania, and we continue to condemn the Russian invasion and recognise Ukraine’s right to peace, freedom, and democratic rule.”
“We stand ready to support our Ukrainian community and we remain ready to play our part should resettlement of Ukrainians be required.”
The Tasman Bridge has previously been lit up in support of various causes, with this display serving as a poignant symbol of Tasmania’s support for Ukraine.
