Tickets for the Tasmania Devils’ first home final are already close to half sold out, ahead of general public sales opening at midday today.
Kath McCann, the club’s chief marketing officer, said a member presale yesterday had already filled around half the 11,000-capacity North Hobart Oval.
“In terms of the volume of tickets left, if you want tickets, if you’re a Believer member, I’d suggest get online now before midday,” she told ABC Radio.
McCann warned fans not to leave it too late.
“If you want tickets, don’t be relaxed,” she said.
The Devils will host Essendon in a VFL semi-final at North Hobart Oval on Saturday at 11:05am, after going down to Geelong away in the first week of finals.
McCann described the occasion as historic for a club that did not exist at this time last year.
“When this time last year the establishment of a VFL and VFLW operation was literally a bullet point on a whiteboard,” she said.
“The amount of work that’s gone on to get the program up and running, obviously to recruit the athletes, the coaches, to bring the fans on the journey, to get venues locked in – it’s been enormous.”
Tickets are $25 including fees.
McCann said the club would have extra staff on hand to manage a capacity crowd and avoid bottlenecks at the gates.
She also said Essendon would be bringing a strong travelling contingent from interstate.
