Martha Stewart has declared Tasmania as the location with the best food she’s ever had.

The lifestyle guru told the UK’s Condé Nast Traveler Tasmania was the overall destination that had most impressive food she’s ever eaten.

“The way they grow things is so extraordinary: the best cherries in the world, the best fish in the world, the best coffee,” Stewart said.

“They make [sparkling wine] now that is reputedly as good as any French Champagne. We had the most fabulous cookouts on beaches with phenomenal chefs.”

“They have wonderful restaurants in Hobart – and then there are restaurants in the countryside around Hobart.”

“You have to have a helicopter or a small plane if you want to really get around because there’s only one road and it’s one lane.”

“It’s hard to go from place to place. I was with the grandchildren, but we ate fabulous food every single meal. It’s a really fabulous place to visit.”

Tourism Tasmania CEO Sarah Clark said Stewart last visited the state with family in 2019.

“Obviously it’s had such an impact on her that she’s still bringing it up in interviews,” Clark said in a radio interview.

The tourism boss said an endorsement from Martha Stewart is a ‘big win’ for Tasmania.

“It’s really important for us, especially in markets like the US, where a lot of her followers are.”

“With her experience in the food space to say that it is some of the best produce that she’s had in the world is just amazing for Tasmania.”
