A Tasmania Police constable has been charged with common assault and issued a police family violence order over an alleged off-duty incident in the state’s north.
The 28-year-old officer was charged after an incident on Sunday and stood down immediately, a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.
They are the third Tasmania Police officer to be charged in just over a week.
The constable is due to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on July 8.
“The matter remains under investigation by Tasmania Police Professional Standards Command,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

“It is not appropriate to make any further comment given the matters are now before the court.”
The charge comes days after a 39-year-old constable from southern Tasmania was charged with burglary, stealing and common assault over an alleged off-duty incident on May 1.
Earlier in the same week, a 24-year-old male constable from southern Tasmania was charged with stealing following a separate professional standards investigation.
