Naarah, a much loved Tasmanian performer, has been awarded the prestigious Dreaming Award for 2023.
The Dreaming Award provides young first nations artists with resources to create a significant body of work.
Naarah expressed her enthusiasm about the award, mentioning her plans to use the resources to develop her own show and tour Australia.
When asked about the concept behind her show on ABC Radio Breakfast, Naarah shared her vision of combining Broadway with Aboriginal culture.

As a lover of musical theater, she aims to incorporate the oldest continuing culture in the world, her Aboriginal heritage, into contemporary musical theater performances.
She envisions singing songs like “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables in her Aboriginal language and translating and performing songs from movies like The Sapphires and Bran Nue Dae.
While a solo show can be a lonely road, Naarah plans to have special guests join her in every city.
Naarah is coming out with her own TikTok series in June, where she will explore Tasmania’s hidden secrets with friend and fellow tiktoker Ella Watkins.
She also stars in Deadloch, the new Amazon Prime show set in Tasmania – which comes out later this week.
